Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend – Myles and I enjoyed dinner and drinks at the Boathouse on Friday <3 We then spent a majority of the weekend resting and attempting to spring clean. The cold/dreary weather definitely led to way too many naps…..
Anyways, today I’m back to share part 3 of our Arizona adventure – feel free to catch up on part one and part two as well. It’s amazing how many pictures I took of our trip, but I’m really having the best time going through them and reliving the moments. Just a heads up that today’s post is a little picture heavy, however, there were too many good shots not to share…..

Day Four: Our main plan for Friday was to spend the first part of the day driving along Desert View Drive, a scenic road on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. There’s over a dozen stops along the way, with the road ending at the Desert View Watchtower. I highly recommend this drive and all of the stops along the way, especially the stop at the end if anything – the views from the top of the Watchtower look out on the Colorado River, Grand Canyon, and the Painted Desert!
We slept in a little bit (which was much needed) and then packed up our things and said good bye to the El Tovar. After some much needed coffee, we hit the road………
It was bittersweet to leave the Grand Canyon, but we were excited for a change of scenery. The trip north to Page, Arizona was a little under two hours, and a majority of it was spent driving through Navajo Nation and the Painted Desert (just a heads up, there are hardly any gas stations along this route!) The drive itself was incredible, the landscape changed so drastically and at times we were the only car on the road……
Once we made it to Page, we checked into our hotel (Courtyard Marriott Page, to rack up the Marriott points of course!) We then had some time to kill before our ‘sunset’ hike to Horseshoe Bend, so we stopped at the Glen Canyon Dam visitor center as well as a scenic stop overlooking Lake Powell. The views were incredible, but I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves………
About 45 minutes before the sun was to set, we decided to hike out to Horseshoe Bend. The ‘hike’ really was just about a ten minute walk, nothing to crazy. Unfortunately it was pretty cloudy out, but we still enjoyed the views and the cool weather (one of my favorite shots of the entire trip is of the bend itself below!)
There’s no railing along the edge of the canyon, so I got as close as I could without feeling like I was going to fall, ha. The professional photographers were all lined up along the edge with their tripods- I for sure was not that brave to get that close…. Also, note how teeny the people are in the pictures below, just to give you a perspective of how large the canyon is!
As you can see, we had a really long day. After our hike, we decided to grab a quick dinner and then head to bed early. Myles and I both had been craving Mexican since we had it in Sedona, so Mexican it was! This picture below cracks me up – I’ve never had fajitas on fire before (please note everyones faces LOL).
If you made it through this recap, thank you so much for reading. I’m hoping to post a recap of our final day shortly. I think the last day in Page was Myles and I’s favorite day of the trip (touring Antelope Canyon and rafting through Glen Canyon).
Until next time….
XOXO,
