Happy Friday ya’ll! What better way to kick off the weekend than talking about the upcoming Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale?! This sale is practically a holiday (jk, kinda…) and one that I personally look forward to every summer.
I wanted to share some of my tips/tricks for shopping the sale for both newbie’s and veterans alike. I’ve also included my top five favorite Lilly items that I highly recommend down below. So make sure to check those out towards the end of this post….
Let’s dive in shall we?
The Basics:
When: August 22nd- 23rd starting at 8:00 AM EST
What: The After Party Sale, which is a semi-annual sale. Lilly Pulitzer items will be discounted up to 60-70% off!
Where: In stores and online
Five Things You NEED To Know:
1. Prepare for the sale (starting now!)
Create an account – I can’t emphasize the importance of this enough. If you already have an account, make sure your credit card information is up to date so that you’re good to go once the sale goes live! You don’t want to be fumbling around plugging this information in at 8:00 AM. Trust me on this one 😉
Know your sizing info – Utilize the “True Fit” tool on the Lilly Pulitzer website to get an idea of your size if you haven’t purchased from Lilly before. This tool has been 100% accurate for me in the past. Also just to note, I generally find Lilly to fit true to size, but I tend to go up in the shifts (size 8 vs size 6 in other retailers), so just a heads up!
Make a list- I know this is easier said than done since the items that will be on sale aren’t listed yet! But, I personally plan on looking at my wardrobe for a general idea of items that I need vs. want, to fill in any gaps. Have an upcoming trip planned? A new dress/romper may be on your list. Do you need new work essentials? Stock up on an Elsa top or two
2. Be ready at 8:00 AM on the dot
The sale will go live right at 8:00, so be prepared a few minutes before. I recommend having more than one device (phone, computer, ipad) on hand just in case you have trouble connecting.
3. Items in your cart will disappear fast
If there’s something you are dying to have, checkout ASAP. Once an item is in your cart, it’s not reserved (I’ve made this mistake in the past…..) Similar to prior sales, Lilly will have a virtual queue. Basically once you check out, you’re placed at the end of the line (it can take anywhere from 15-30 min to gain access back to the site). Due to this system, my strategy has been to add 2-3 items to my cart that are on my ‘must have list’ and then check out. This is my personal method, so just be prepared for anything!
4. All sales are final
Just keep that in mind (which goes back to #1 tip on sizing). If an item doesn’t fit, you can always sell it on a Lilly Facebook group, Poshmark or Ebay – There’s always someone looking for a piece, so no worries there!
5. Patience is key
Be prepared for the site to crash, as it’s done in years past. Also be prepared for items to sell out in your cart. At the end of the day, I’ve found that patience is key. I promise you, that you will score some amazing deals despite all the chaos! It’s great to even have the opportunity to shop Lilly at such a discounted price- so just try to remember that 😉
**Edit to add #6- Because items do sell out fast, remember you can always shop the Lilly Pulitzer Signature Stores. Often times prices are even lower! I personally love Pink Palm and the Pink Pelican. Also, 6pm.com generally has tons of Lilly marked down during the sale as well- so make sure to check there!
Five Items I Recommend
Elsa Top
My favorite Lilly Pulitzer piece hands down is the Elsa Top. If there’s one item you need in your wardrobe from this sale, it’s this top. Trust me. Not only are they silk (so soft!), but they’re super practical- from work to weekend wear! Also, Elsa’s are generally around $150, but during the sale expect the top to be marked down to around $60-80. I own a handful, and use this sale to stock up! Side note- they do run on the larger side, so you could easily size down.
Iona Shell
Iona shells are a staple for any work wardrobe and can be worn year round (pair with a cardigan in the fall/winter and you’re good to go!) Not only is the Iona made of silk, but the shell has the cutest buttons along the back (the perfect detail!) Definitely scoop one of these up if they are part of the sale…
Classic Shift
Lilly Pulitzer shifts are timeless. If you aren’t a fan of bright colors/prints there should be several options in navy/white as well. Because all Lilly shifts are made well, they will last for years to come. Expect shifts to be marked down as low as $50-$70.
Popover
I purchased my first popover two years ago and haven’t looked back. Popovers tend to sell out fast, since they come in a variety of fun prints and are super comfy! I wear these year round – whether to run errands or just lounging around the house.
Essie Dress
Finally, the Essie dress is a newer Lilly style and reminds me a lot of the Elsa Top. The dress is light weight and effortlessly chic. I actually just ordered the navy version here (I’m thinking it will go great with sandals/wedges now and with booties in the fall!)
And there you have it. I hope this guide was helpful for those interested in shopping the sale. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I love to help out!
Are you a Lilly addict fan like me? Are you planning on shopping the APS? If so, what’s on your must have list?

I can’t wait! My mom and I are already telling each other what to look out for. I’m hoping to snag a maxi and some of the luxletic pieces this year! And yes, last year I bought pants that ended up being too small, but sold them for what I paid for them on ebay, so I would say go for it rather than hesitate, you can get your money back.
