J Crew Factory Dress: similar shape here , love this classic one, and the details on this dress are gorgeous
Franco Sarto sandals via Nordstrom Rack: LOVE these and these under $60
Oh work style…I feel like I could write a novel on this topic! Having spent four years in corporate America, I like to think I have finally started to master ‘business casual.’ It’s taken some trial and error, but over time I have gradually discovered what works best for me, and what I look for when shopping for work attire.
First, I’m all about comfort. Since I spend a majority of my day sitting in a cube, I need clothing that is breathable, wrinkle free, and not too tight. Enter- the Tshirt Dress. Embarrassingly enough, I own a few versions of this J Crew Factory dress from different seasons, and I still find myself purchasing more. The material is thick enough that it has some sort of structure without being too clingy. Even better, it’s machine washable and stands the test of time (major win in my book!)
Second, I’m all about a look that is easy and put together. In the summer I tend to gravitate towards dresses (vs pants/skirts). The fewer the pieces, the quicker I can get ready in the morning! Throw on a statement necklace and a cute pair of wedges/flats (how cute are these??) and you are good to go!
Finally, when it comes to work attire, I personally love to make a statement. Luckily I work in an environment which leans more on the ‘casual’ side, so you can often find me wearing bright colors/prints/etc…. There’s nothing I enjoy more than starting the day off wearing fun clothing!
Unfortunately my dress is sold out, but I’ve included three similar options above. The key to the perfect Tshirt Dress is the material – make sure it isn’t too thin or clingy, as those types of dresses tend to shrink in the wash.
Anyways, I hope ya’ll like this work edition post. I’m thinking about doing more of these in the future, especially as the seasons change.
As always, thanks for reading!
XOXO,
