    Mt. Pilatus, Switzerland

    mt. pilatus

As I mentioned in Thursday's post, our adventure to Mt. Pilatus was a highlight of our trip and one I can't stop raving about! When I initially decided on staying in Lucerne, I knew I wanted to do some sort of day trip to the surrounding mountains.

Luckily there were three main choices to chose from: Mt. Rigi, Mt. Titlis, and Mt. Pilatus. After WAY too much research I settled on Mt. Pilatus- mostly after seeing these pictures. Seriously, SO cool right?!

    mt. pilatus

Well I'm here today to share that this day trip was WAY worth the hype and by far exceeded my expectations. It was also really easy to navigate with our trusty Swiss Pass. With the pass, the trip is free and you don't need to buy any tickets.

I'll break it down for you in easy details below. There really is no need to buy any sort of group tour since you can do this on your own. I have faith in you 😉

We decided to start the 'Golden Round Trip' with a boat ride on Lake Lucerne. The boat was docked next to the train station which was super convenient, and the ride took us to Alpnachstad about an hour away.

To avoid crowds, we left around 9:00 which ended up working out perfectly! The boat itself was pretty large and there were so many places to get picture perfect shots.

mt. pilatus*mt. pilatusIf you look hard enough, the little building up top is the summit! mt. pilatus mt. pilatusmt. pilatusJust check out these views of the snow capped Swiss Alps and Mt. Pilatus!mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

Once we docked in Alpnachstad, we boarded the world's steepest cogwheel train to take us to the top....

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus mt. pilatusmt. pilatus

Oh my gosh ya'll was this SO cool! It took about 30 minutes to get to the top, which quickly went by since the views were absolutely breathtaking. I'm still in awe that a train like this even exists......

mt. pilatus mt. pilatus mt. pilatus

    7,000 feet up!

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

Once we got off the train, we explored the top for about a bit. There's several places to eat, as well as a hotel. No idea how they even built that, the Swiss people are geniuses! We weren't hungry for once since we'd had a huge breakfast earlier, so we decided to set out on the hike below not really knowing what to expect.........

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatus

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

Miles upon miles of beauty as far as the eye can see........

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

We even found someone to take our picture!

    mt. pilatus

So this is when things got dicey.......I had NO idea we'd be climbing grated stairs on the edge of this mountain. No joke, there was a complete drop the entire time. Long story short, I learned the hard way that I'm NOT a fan of stairs when we're 7,000 feet up.......So just keep that in mind if you're afraid of heights in the least bit.

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

    Death gripping the railing....

Thankfully Myles talked me out of turning around and I made it past the worst spots without having a complete panic attack. I wish I had gotten some pictures, but I think Myles got video? More to come... My legs were visibly shaking, but the views were worth it!

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

After we completed the loop, I was more then ready for a glass of wine and a snack.

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus mt. pilatus

We decided against the other loop to the highest point on Pilatus because...we'll just take a look at the picture below. Brave, brave people...

    mt. pilatus

Pretty sure the 'stairs' were made of wood and dirt....Not happening!

Once I finally didn't feel like my heart was beating out of my chest, we decided to do one more hike that looked a little less intimidating (flat with no stairs!)

    mt. pilatus

mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus mt. pilatus mt. pilatus

My favorite moments of the day (entire trip?) were here with the Swiss Alps in the distance. I really felt on top of the world! It was so quiet and peaceful, all we could hear were the jingling of the cow bells below. I can't even believe this type of beauty even exists in the world.....

Needless to say, Myles and I were both in awe and spent some time sitting on a bench trying to take in everything <3 We even decided next time we visit we might attempt the hike below... Kidding!

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatus

We even took some outfit pics along the edge that you might recognize 😉

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

Gibson Top (similar) / Favorite stretchy jeans (the price is SO good and they literally have elastic in the band!) / Nikes (sold out, similar) / Favorite sunglasses

Myles and I pretty much had to drag ourselves down from Mt. Pilatus. I'm pretty sure we could have stayed up there ALL day.

    mt. pilatus

After a few hours on top of the world though, we decided to take the gondolas/cable cars down to Kreins. These run very frequently, so it's easy to hop on, hop off. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves on this one.......

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

Through the clouds we go!mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatusHalf way point- the water is SO clean in Switzerland! I really wish I could have bottled it all up and taken it home.
mt. pilatus mt. pilatus mt. pilatus mt. pilatusOnce we made it to Kreins, it was a quick 10 min walk to the bus that brought us back to Lucerne. There's signs, but pretty much you just have to follow the people and you will find the bus stop!

We got back a little after four and decided to rest a bit in our hotel before setting back out for the night. I think we both were just SO overwhelmed with our day adventure that we were exhausted. Overwhelmed in the best way possible just trying to soak up what we'd just done!

If there's one piece of advice I can give you, it's to put Mt. Pilatus on your bucket list, as well as Lucerne! You will NOT be disappointed 🙂

Stay tuned - Friday I'll be sharing some of my favorite things we did in the town of Lucerne, as well as a review of our hotel.
    XOXO

    Let's Catch Up: April/May

Happy Wednesday friends! Since I've been on a roll with the blog as of last week (see my travel posts from California here and here), I figured it was time to catch up on everything thats been going on lately!

It's been a long time since I've done a post like this (January maybe?) so it's totally overdue. The last two months were absolutely hectic, in all the best ways possible though. So I thought it would be fun to share what I've been up to via my iPhone pics. Some of these pics you might recognize from Instagram, but others never quite made it on there.....

Grab a cup of coffee because this is a long one, I hope you enjoy!

My sister and I took a trip to Upper Shirley Vineyards towards the end of March. It was my first time visiting, and I couldn't get over how beautiful it was! The food of course was delicious (hello ham biscuits <333), but the property itself was just lovely. For those who live in Richmond, this vineyard is just a short drive away and worth the trip! And for those planning a wedding...this place really is a dream!

We had the best day full of champagne, dresses on dresses, lunch with views of the James, visiting the most gorgeous boutique I've ever seen (seriously, that chandelier deserves all the heart emojis), and of course pizza 😉 I'll be sharing more on my dress shopping experience later....but all I can say is I'm pretty sure we found the one!!! The day honestly couldn't have been more perfect- basically as cliche as that sounds. So thank ya'll for making it so special!!! Can't wait until 5/5/18

Well friends, I think that's about it. I hope you enjoyed this post and I can't wait to get back into the swing of blogging. I have so many fun things planned ahead that I want to share - including the rest of my California travel posts, a family beach trip this month, wedding updates (I'm thinking of doing these monthly?), more J Crew Factory finds (I definitely did some damage...), as well as a big trip Myles and I have planned for early September!!

It's going to be a great summer and I can't wait to have ya'll along for the ride.

Work Style Wednesday #5 - From Day to Night

    {OUTFIT DETAILS}

Halogen Bell Sleeve Tunic (40% off!) / Black Skinnies (similar here under $40) / Leopard Pumps (personal fave!) / Monogram Necklace

Happy Wednesday friends! How's everyone's week going? I for one am counting down until Friday. I'm taking my family to tour our wedding venue and I couldn't be more excited, but that's a story for another time 😉

The other day  I realized I'd gotten off track with my Work Style Wednesday posts, so I figured nows as good a time as ever to bring them back! Lately I've been trying to only add pieces to my wardrobe that  1.) can be worn multiple ways (functionality is key!) and 2.) I will wear more than once...

Which brings me to this bell sleeve tunic I picked up from the Nordstrom sale....

    bell sleeve

    bell sleeve
    bell sleeve

Ya'll, I'm obsessed with this top. I'm definitely a sucker for all things bell sleeve and the color is perfection. It's so good that I've already worn it twice in the last two weeks..whoops!

Not only did I wear this top yesterday to the office with these pumps (how gorgeous is this print?), but I also  took it from the office to happy hour/dinner the other week simply by swapping out these pants with the ones above. So easy for day to night!

Also just to note, this top is really structured- which I love. The material is a little thick which is great for transitioning to spring (temperatures are so weird around here!) I plan on wearing it with white denim in the upcoming weeks and these sandals. Apologies in advance 😉 I also can't believe it's $40....

Anyways, I hope ya'll enjoyed this look. Thanks for stopping by!

    XOXO,

What's your go-to work look? Lately I'm all about anything peplum or bell sleeves with skinnies!

    Spring Wishlist + Shopbop Sale

Happy Wednesday ya'll! Three cheers for making it almost halfway through the week.

I was hoping to do a February recap today...but then I saw the Shopbop sale went live and it was too good not to share. I promise a February Instagram roundup/life update will be up later this week though!

    shopbop

For those unfamiliar with this sale, it's a good one. Now is the perfect time to stock up on any spring/summer pieces you've been eyeing at a discount (shipping is also free). A lot of these brands rarely go on sale, so if you see something you know you want, I would totally snag it now before sizes run out! Trust me, I've learned the hard way...

Personally, I've been holding out on most spring purchases...until now, lol. So I figured it would be fun to share some of my favorite items from the sale (brands like Wildfox, Rebecca Minkoff, Free People, AG Denim, Tory Burch, etc). If anything, I hope this post inspires ya'll for spring fashion  (isn't it the best?!)

    {Tops}
    {Dresses/Rompers}
    {Bottoms}
    {Accessories}
    What's in my cart:

    shopbop

    One Teaspoon Shorts

This spring I really want to invest in a quality pair of denim shorts and these fit all my criteria! I've heard rave reviews about this brand, so I can't wait to try them out. Definitely going to size up though!

    shopbop

    Tory Burch Ballet Flats

OMG the tortoise print is to die for. Is there such thing as too many pairs of Tory flats? (I'm going to go with no...)

    shopbop

    Endless Rose Top

The perfect white top to dress up or down! Love the lace details <3

    shopbop

    Pizza Float

Because who can deny a pizza float, lol?! I also love this one too 😉

    And finally...

Two items I personally recommend from the sale would be this cover up (blogged here) and this top (blogged here- btw how was this almost a year ago?!) I love both and can't wait to wear them again this season!

    Thanks for reading!

    XO,

Did you shop the Shopbop sale?! If so, what did you snag? I'd love to hear below!

    Designer Shoes on a Budget

    snobswap
    snobswap

    snobswap

    snobswap

    snobswap

    Outfit Details:

Prada Pumps (SnobSwap) / Joe's Skinny Ankle Pants (obsessed and on sale!) / Similar Sweater

Confession: I'm a shoe-aholic. Now don't get me wrong I've always LOVED shoes, but over the last few years my obsession has just continued to grow. My closet doesn't thank me for this and neither does my wallet!

I think the love affair started when I purchased my first pair of Tory Burch Revas. Then came the Tory Burch boots, followed by the Millers, etc. You get the picture!  It was game over after that.

    snobswap

While I love less expensive, trendy shoes (hello Target I'm talking to you!), there's something about a 'nice' pair of shoes that I just can't say no to. Not only are investment shoes generally more comfortable, but I'm convinced they really can up your accessory game and turn a plain outfit into something fab!

So while I LOVE splurging on shoes, sometimes it really just isn't in the budget as often as I'd like (let's be real, bills have to be paid as well as other adult responsibilities). Which brings me to SnobSwap - an online boutique featuring pre-owned designer pieces from luxury resellers around the country. I stumbled across this site and haven't looked back since.....

    snobswap

SnobSwap sells everything from bags, shoes, clothing, to accessories - carrying brands such as Louis Vuiton, Prada, Chanel, etc...Basically they have everything you could ever want and more. SnobSwap also sells new, gently used, and well loved items at a wide variety of price points. I've noticed that they run sales every week or so too (such as 20% off a particular designer, etc). **Edited to add- today they're running 20% off all handbags, with code ITBAG <3 **

    Moral of the story

I LOVE this site and have nothing but rave reviews with my experiences. I was able to score the Prada Nude pumps above at a fraction of the price (about 75% off!) They were also brand new, never worn with just a teeny scuff on the bottom of the sole which I was a-okay with.

Ya'll, these pumps make me feel like I'm walking on a cloud! I know that I will get so much use out of these for years to come as well.........

    snobswap

Anyways, that's enough of my rambling, but I just wanted to share my experience with SnobSwap. If you're on the hunt for designer pieces at a fraction of the cost, check them out. The customer service team is also super helpful. I emailed them for additional shots and they responded the same day!

    XOXO,

PS: I'm literally obsessed with these pants - snag them while they're on sale! (They don't stretch and fit true to size!)

Are you a fan of designer consignment stores? Do you have any favorites, I'd love to hear below!?
