Let’s Catch Up: April/May

Happy Wednesday friends! Since I’ve been on a roll with the blog as of last week (see my travel posts from California here and here), I figured it was time to catch up on everything thats been going on lately!

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a post like this (January maybe?) so it’s totally overdue. The last two months were absolutely hectic, in all the best ways possible though. So I thought it would be fun to share what I’ve been up to via my iPhone pics. Some of these pics you might recognize from Instagram, but others never quite made it on there…..

Grab a cup of coffee because this is a long one, I hope you enjoy!

My sister and I took a trip to Upper Shirley Vineyards towards the end of March. It was my first time visiting, and I couldn’t get over how beautiful it was! The food of course was delicious (hello ham biscuits <333), but the property itself was just lovely. For those who live in Richmond, this vineyard is just a short drive away and worth the trip! And for those planning a wedding…this place really is a dream!

The first weekend in April, my friends and I met up for a MUCH needed girls day. We went to brunch at “Supper” (which is TO die for…please check out how big that biscuit is above!) and brewery hopped around Scotts Addition. Of course we all were twinning in white….

When Myles and I weren’t bouncing around all weekend, we were spending a lot of time with my sister and her boyfriends’ dogs. Dogsitting is literally the best of both worlds. Zeke especially is such a clown!

If you don’t already, be sure to follow me along on Insta – I’m always posting videos of these pups!  I especially can’t wait for our trip to the Outer Banks in 1.5 weeks. These two have no idea the fun they have ahead!

We toured a few rehearsal dinner options and I think we finally found a winner.  More to come later this year once everything is finalized….

Catch Up

Random- but I finally caved and purchased a Chanel classic flap bag from Snobswap. This has always been a dream bag of mine, so when I saw a used (but practically new) one on sale I took it as a sign (ha!) Needless to say I’m in love, and I can’t wait to carry this bag for years to come…..

Myles and I made the trip to Atlanta one weekend in April for the most beautiful wedding! Everything from the hotel, to the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, and reception was beyond perfect.

We’re so excited for the happy couple and so glad we got to celebrate them all weekend. I really wish I could share some of the pictures I took, but I’ll let the professional pictures speak for themselves. (I seriously can’t wait to see them!) Congrats to the Carrolls!

While Myles was off hanging out with the groomsmen, I brunched with my bff from college. Hey Stro!

I took off work on a random Wednesday to celebrate my 28th birthday with my parents (in Lilly of course!) Our birthday lunch tradition at Brio might be one of my favorites (the salmon is SO good!) As always, my mom gave me the cutest gift-  how adorable are these signs?!

And to continue on with the birthday celebrations…. My college bffs visited from ATL and DC for a weekend of catching up and wedding dress shopping! I can’t even explain how blessed I am for these girls in my life, as well as my mom and big sister <3

We had the best day full of champagne, dresses on dresses, lunch with views of the James, visiting the most gorgeous boutique I’ve ever seen (seriously, that chandelier deserves all the heart emojis), and of course pizza 😉 I’ll be sharing more on my dress shopping experience later….but all I can say is I’m pretty sure we found the one!!! The day honestly couldn’t have been more perfect- basically as cliche as that sounds. So thank ya’ll for making it so special!!! Can’t wait until 5/5/18

And last but not least, lately I’ve been addicted to Jcrew/Jcrew Factory…

Well friends, I think that’s about it. I hope you enjoyed this post and I can’t wait to get back into the swing of blogging. I have so many fun things planned ahead that I want to share – including the rest of my California travel posts, a family beach trip this month, wedding updates (I’m thinking of doing these monthly?), more J Crew Factory finds (I definitely did some damage…), as well as a big trip Myles and I have planned for early September!!

It’s going to be a great summer and I can’t wait to have ya’ll along for the ride.

Thanks for reading <3

California Road Trip – Day 1

Hello friends- long time no chat! I wish I had a better reason for going MIA other than the fact that ‘life‘ has been crazy (in all the best ways!)  I’ve really just been enjoying time with my family, friends, and wedding planning. Seriously, how is it already June?

Road Trip

So going along with the title of this post, Myles and just got back from our long awaited roadtrip up the California coast a few weeks ago. I’d been looking forward to this trip for months (…literally six but who’s counting 😉 ) and was so pumped when the day was finally here! I also felt really inspired to whip out my DSLR and put it to use after weeks of not being behind the lens. Needless to say it felt so GOOD to be back.

We enjoyed our trip so much that I really wanted to share what we did/where we stayed with ya’ll. When I set out on planning our trip, I definitely turned to blogs, instagram, google, etc to help map out our itinerary. It was somewhat overwhelming. So I figured why not do a day by day travel blog style to help anyone planning a trip of their own! If anything, I hope ya’ll can enjoy the beautiful pictures- California is truly spectacular <3

Road Trip

In typical accountant style, I mapped out our plans day by day on a nice little spreadsheet (Myles got a kick out of this). This was just a ‘rough’ itinerary of things that we hoped to see/do and we definitely strayed from plans but that’s the fun in road trips right? We also booked all of our hotels up front, so we didn’t have to worry about where we were staying every night.

 Road Trip

Five Day California Roadtrip Overview:

Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach

Point Dumes, Santa Barbara, Slovang, Pismo Beach

 San Simeon, Paso Robles, Monterey

Point Lobos, Big Sur, Carmel

Santa Cruz, Henry Cowell Redwoods Park

Road Trip

So without further adieu…let’s get started (apologies in advance for picture overload)

Myles and I decided to take a late flight out on Wednesday after work, which seemed like a good idea at the time but we didn’t get to LAX until after 11:00 pm (2 AM east coast time!) Needless to say we were exhausted, but pumped for the trip ahead. We picked up our rental car and headed straight to the hotel to catch up on sleep. Since we were only going to be at the hotel for less than 10 hours, we stayed close to the airport using one of our free Marriott nights (win!)

Surprisingly, we both woke up really early and headed out to start our day. Myles has been to California a few times, but really wanted to see Muscle Beach on the Venice Beach boardwalk. It definitely wasn’t what either of us expected, but was pretty cool to see in person. Plus we were both excited to finally see the Pacific Ocean (despite how cold it was!)

Road Trip

Road Trip

Road Trip

Road Trip

Random, but I’ve never seen a public parking lot this before where they stack cars- kind of cool!

Next stop was Santa Monica, which was just down the road. We parked at the pier and walked around for about an hour or so. Such a cool spot and I told Myles next time we need to ride the ferris wheel 😉

Road Trip

Road Trip

Road Trip

As soon as we left Santa Monica, the clouds finally parted and the sun came out! I noticed in California the weather can change so quickly. One minute it’s foggy/cloudy and the next it’s blue skies.

I’m not going to lie, our next stop in Huntington Beach was one I had been looking forward to for way too long- Lemonade! I’d heard so many good things about this California chain and couldn’t wait to try it for myself. Seriously, check out the menu – it’s too die for.

As expected, Lemonade didn’t disappoint and of course the lemonade itself was delicious (I had watermelon rosemary). For those visiting Cali- add this to your list of must eats NOW!

Road Trip

*seared tuna, curried cauliflower, and sugar snap peas/edamame*

Road Trip

*Don’t mind me, but I’ll sit here and eat Lemonade all day every day*

After lunch, we walked around Huntington Beach and the pier for about an hour soaking in the sun (note to self, sunscreen is a must even when it;s only like 60 degrees…) We both decided that next time we visit Cali, we want to stay in Huntington Beach for a night. There were so many nice restaurants on the water and cute shops…. definitely could have used more time here.

Also how gorgeous is the water and crystal clear blue skies?!?

Road Trip

Road Trip

Road Trip

Road Trip

*I love the palm tree lined streets!!*

Road Trip

*Finally found someone to take our pic!*

We seriously could have spent a few more hours walking around exploring Huntington Beach, but we had to head to our next stop about 30 min south – Newport Beach!

Before checking into our hotel, we explored a little bit of the Balboa Peninsula and both agreed that we could stay here for a night (notice a theme, ha?!) This area was way more secluded/less touristy and up our alley. The houses were so cute and the little waterways that connected to the mainland we’re really cool too.

Road Trip

Road Trip

Road Trip

Road Trip

At this point it was about 4 PM and we were exhausted from a day full of activities, so we decided to head to our hotel – The Newport Beach Marriott Bayview. Checking in was painless, and we were so excited to find out we were upgraded to a balcony room with a view!

Road Trip

Road Trip

A round of naps and a few selfies later and we were off to the Balboa Resort for drinks on the water. Myles had stayed here before and raved about the resort/location so I was so excited to check it out! Needless to say it didn’t disappoint….

Road Trip

Road Trip

Road Trip

*This Lilly dress might be my new favorite! Also if you follow along on my Insta, I’ve probably worn these shoes 50x (not even joking). They’re SO good and so comfy! Worth the splurge*

After a round of drinks, it was time for Myles’ favorite part of the trip (slightly kidding..haha). We headed to Fashion Island to pick up my very early birthday present. This mall is incredible first of all- it blows all of the outdoor malls in RVA to shame! Honestly, I’m glad I don’t live nearby!

Road Trip

Road Trip

Road Trip

After our shopping adventure, we finally decided on dinner at Red O Restaurant near the mall. It seriously was the cutest restaurant ever (hence the above snap, lol!) and I’m bummed I didn’t take any pics – which normally means I devoured my food! We enjoyed margs, chips/salsa, and fajitas. All and all a perfect night cap to an amazing Day 1 in California.

Phew- Well I hope ya’ll enjoyed my first Cali recap. I really loved our plans for the first day. I felt like we weren’t too rushed and saw a lot. However, I definitely would have liked to add another night in either Huntington or Newport Beach. But if you can take one thing away from this it would be to eat at Lemonade if you’re in the area!!!

Thanks for reading!

XOXO,

January Favorites

Why hello there friends! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I honestly have no idea where the time has gone, but that seems to be the case this time of year (accounting problems…)

Anyways, I wanted to pop in and share some of my January favorites with ya’ll since there were quite a few things I fell in love with over the last several weeks. This list also includes some things I’ve been up to- it’s a tad random, but I hope you enjoy 😉

Who else is ready for warm weather?! It was a high of 80 degrees yesterday, and I’m hoping its here to stay….

(just an FYI- size down!)

Hungryroots Delivery

Slightly random, but this is seriously TOO good not to share. I can’t rave about Hungry Roots enough. If you’re a fan of spiralized noodles, this meal delivery service is for you! Every meal can be made under 7 min and is super fresh. For someone with a busy schedule (let’s be real that’s all of us!) this is a great solution to not only eat healthy, but spend minimal time in the kitchen. You can chose how often your delivery arrives (as well as cancel any time, which I definitely am not doing LOL), and it shows up at your door nicely packaged and ready to go!

My favorites: the sweet potato morning hash (with drippy eggs added), celery root noodles, and the almond chickpea cookie dough (all the heart emojis <333). The thing I love most about this service, compared to others out there, is you can pick exactly what you want (although  that makes it super tempting not to order all deserts….) Give this a try and let me know what you think!

Sign up here for $20 off

This is by no way sponsored, I’m just obsessed! I think the price is so good for what you get (the starter bundle which includes 8 products is only $45!) Also, just an FYI some of these meals are available at Whole Foods, but it doesn’t look like they’ve made their way to VA quite yet. I’ll stay on the look out though…

This mascara combo

 Mascara / Primer

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m by NO means a beauty expert at all…but I finally gave this combo a try and I’m obsessed! I highly recommend both products

This sweater (only $21)

January Favorites

The quality is on point and I just adore the ruffle details <333

These shoes (obsessed, snag them now while they’re on sale)

January Favorites

These Marc Fisher Espadrilles are perfection for spring/summer. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to snag a pair last year, since they sold out everywhere! When I saw them in stock here and on sale (!!!), I had to grab them (despite the fact it’s only February). My advice is to snag them NOW on sale, since they’re still full price at most other retailers and sizes are running low.

**I’m also eyeing this pair as well 😉 **

Booking a photographer

January Favorites

(source)

We finally booked our photographer and I couldn’t be more excited! Right now we’re trying to nail down when/where to do our engagement shoots – but I think we have an idea 😉 More details to come with our next wedding update.

Last but not least, Show Me Your Mumu on 6pm.com

If you’ve been a follower for awhile, you may know my obsession with Mumu (posts here, here, and here). When I realized that 6pm now carries the brand at up to 70% off, my life pretty much was made! Needless to say, I snagged this neutral maxi above and this printed dress, and am trying to refrain from more…Go check it out for yourself!

I hope ya’ll enjoyed this little roundup/update. As always, thanks for reading!

XOXO,

Outfit Details:

Pink Coat (J. Crew version available here in black and heather grey) / Leggings (similar on sale here) / Uggs (currently almost half off)

Happy New Year friends! I’m finally back from a little blog hiatus. I apologize for ‘disappearing’ on ya’ll like that – life got a little in the way between travel and the holidays and I just wasn’t feeling as inspired to be honest. BUT it’s a new year and I’m so excited to be back to my little space on the web. I missed sharing my outfits and random life updates, but mostly I just missed ya’ll!

Favorite Coat

So anyways, today I wanted to pop in and share a little bit of what I’ve been up to, as well as my FAVORITE coat for the winter that’s currently on sale. To start, I’m pretty much obsessed with this jacket. I purchased it during Black Friday back in 2015 and have worn it nonstop. The fabric is really nice for the price point and it’s super warm. This past weekend we had over 8+ inches of snow and this jacket kept me nice and warm!

Lately

As far as life updates….Myles and I have been busy spending time with our family this holiday season. My parents rented a house at the river over Thanksgiving, which was so fun. We spent our days cozied up by the fire with two pups (apparently Lucy girl is a big soccer player now!), as well as feasting on delicious home cooked meals and Myles’ famous pizza…

Oh yea, I finally got a haircut 😉

We then celebrated the Lane family Christmas Eve a week early (my favorite day of the year hands down!) I love our traditions, especially our Polish spread of pierogies, shrimp, crabcakes, etc (yum!) So glad Myles got to join in the festivities with us this year…Can you believe after 6+ years we’d never spent a holiday together?!

Christmas day was spent in Philly with Myles’ family. While I missed my family a lot, I was so thankful to have spent time with them the two weekends prior.

Time spent in Pennsylvania is always so great. Myles’ family couldn’t be more welcoming. I feel very lucky to be marrying into such an amazing family with the kindest people.

Did I lose any of ya’ll with this long post, ha!? I’m so excited to be back to blogging. I feel like I have so much to talk about and not enough space. So for now, I’m going to end this here…but be on the lookout. I have a few things I want to share (including my goals for 2017 and a wedding update – we finally have a venue and a date!)

Engaged

This past Saturday, in the comfort of our own home, my best friend and love of my life asked me to marry him. It may have been hurricaning outside, and I may have been a little bit sick- but it was simply perfect. Words can’t even describe how excited I am to spend my life with this man- I’m sitting here five days later and I’m still in shock/excited/overwhelmed with love….but really just trying to process it all (in the best ways possible).

Engaged

Myles and I have been dating for over five years, but have known each other since we were just about 20. We met through mutual friends, and instantly just clicked. Everything was always so easy with him – I really could go on and on about the reasons I love this man (I once gifted him with custom Hershey kisses for our first Valentines Day together, each with a different saying of “I love you for XYZ reason….,” but that’s a story for another time).

He keeps me calm and level headed (as best he can!), he has the kindest heart, he’s hilarious, he’s handsome, he’s loved by everyone who meets him, he’s ambitious and motivated, he’s a hard worker, and he is all around the most genuine person I know.

Engaged

Myles- I love you more than anything, and I can’t wait to spend my life with you. So many good times ahead, and I’m forever grateful to have you by my side…

Engaged

Thank you for all of the love on Facebook/Instagram. I appreciate all of the sweet words. Regular blogging will resume, as the craziness dies down (did I tell you leave for Mexico in 8 days!)

I’m thinking of starting a little wedding series, if that is something ya’ll would be interested in – If anything I’d love to have a place to chronicle this time in our life.

Thank you so much for reading, I love you all!

XOXO,
