    Nordstrom Sale: Hits and Misses

If you're reading this now, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally open to the public! Since I'm a Nordstrom card holder, I've been shopping the sale since 3 AM las Thursday (you can read all about that here). Luckily most of my online orders have come in, and I was able to make a trip to our local Nordstrom to try a few things on last night after work.....

Long story short, I came across a ton of items I love and purchased for myself. But I also tried on a few things that were just mehhhhh. I feel like bloggers only share the good, and today I wanted to share both - the good and bad. Of course this is all subjective, but hopefully it's helpful. If you see something you like, snag it now. Items have been selling out like crazy. As always, returns are super easy with Nordstrom.

So without further adieu, let's start out with things I didn't love. Just to note, I'm about 5 ft 4ish on a good day and generally wear a size 6/medium.

    MISSES:

Henley Tee ($49 on sale for $32)

I ordered this in a medium and it was massive. We're talking two sizes too big. I could see it working as pajamas, but for the price it was a big no for me. The material was soft, but was thinner than I hoped. No picture because this went back immediately.

Wrap Sweater ($89 on sale for $58)

Okay, I had high hopes for this one since it was SO soft. I'm wearing a small and looking at this picture I think I'm just wearing it wrong....I did love the sports bra I'm wearing underneath but didn't end up buying one. They're on sale here for 2/$40 and I actually think I might snag two now that I'm sitting here thinking about it!

Button Front Top ($38 on sale for $24)

I'm wearing a size medium and it was just too form fitted for my liking. I definitely would recommend sizing up if you don't want it too fitted or to shrink in the wash. This was just a no for me.

Slouchy Pocket Henley ($49 on sale for $31)

This might be my least favorite thing I tried on...I could tell on the hanger that it just looked like a hot mess  (too wrinkly and thin), but I'd seen so many other bloggers raving about this top so I gave it a try in a safe darker color. It was just horrible on me, haha. I didn't think the quality was worth even the marked down price despite how cute it looks here on the model.

Throw on Cardigan  ($89 on sale for $58)

I didn't even try this one on in the store because it felt SO itchy! I wasn't a fan and there are way better cardigans that are a part of the sale...

High Knee Suede Boots ($239 on sale for $159)

Ugh ya'll, this one is tough. I wanted to love these boots but for some reason they just don't do it for me. I think if they were under $100 I'd keep them, but they just feel too flimsy and thin for suede.....Unfortunately these have to go back.

    HITS:

Adidas Top ($32 on sale for $23)

LOVE this workout top. The quality is really good and not too thin. I know I'll get a ton of use out of this. Wearing a size medium and fits true to size.

Faux Leather Leggings ($98 on sale for $64)

One of my favorite purchases, if not favorite, of the entire sale. Ya'll these are as good as people say. I skipped out on these last year and am now kicking myself. They feel like a dream and fit true to size. I'm wearing a medium. Highly recommend!

Slip on Sneakers ($195 on sale for $125)

Another favorite purchase from the sale were these leather slip on sneakers. The quality is really really good, and they can be worn so many ways. Definitely a splurge, but a good investment piece! I already plan on wearing them the next time we go to Europe and will be walking tons of miles 😉 They run big, so size down. I'm generally an 8 and I'm wearing a 7.5 above.

Wubby ($78 on sale for $51)

The softest fleece pullover that makes you feel like a giant teddy bear. I can't wait to wear this all winter long. The price is right too! Definite win. I'm wearing a size large and I like the fit.

    High-Low V-neck Sweater (on sale for $38)

I love this sweater so much! It's so soft and the perfect non-itchy material. I also like the longer length so that I can wear it with my faux leather leggings or even jeans. Sizes are limited, but if you see this one grab it for sure. Runs true to size- wearing a medium.

Cashmere Wrap ($199 on sale for $132)

Another splurge, but such a good investment piece. Wraps can be worn so many different ways and are perfect for travel too. This wrap comes in grey, black, dark red, and a beautiful light pink color. It was so hard to chose which one, but you really can't go wrong! I also love the fringe detailing.

Just to note, I saw a few other cashmere pieces in the store last night and I honestly thought a lot of them felt cheap.....This wrap however is great quality. So just wanted to share that!

Striped Tee ($17 on sale for $11)

I ended up grabbing this tee in stripe, white (x2), and black. They aren't the best quality in the world, but they're good basics to have on hand. I find I wear tees like this year round and love to update them whenever I find them on sale. Wearing a size medium.

Oversized Cardigan ($89 on sale for $59). Comes in several colors

This cardigan is everything. As soon as I put it on, I knew it was coming home with me. Out of all of the cardigans I tried on and felt in the store this was the clear winner. I love how it's oversized, but doesn't swallow me up necessarily. The olive color is also beautiful - it comes in five other colors as well. Definitely size down. I'm wearing an XS/S

Suede Mules ($79 on sale for $49)

I saw these mules in the catalog about a month ago and knew I had to have them! They're even cuter in person and I just love the light blush color. Hurry on these since there are limited sizes left in black, taupe, blush, and red. I'm wearing my standard 8, but I could have sized down to a 7.5. Oh and I've already worn these twice to work this week and it's only Thursday, ha!

Exposed Seam Sweater (on sale for $29). Comes in several colors

Okay, this sweater may not look that impressive but I really like it! It's long enough to wear with leggings, but also works with pants. It's really soft too and the price point is right. Unfortunately, it keeps going in and out of stock but I wanted to link it for you here. Wearing my standard size medium.

Also just to note, I tried on this similar sweater for $45 and actually preferred my sweater above! I felt like the quality was better, and I was really surprised at the price difference.

Okay this might be my favorite look I put together! Excuse the awkwardness, but I wanted to show off my shoes 😉

Wrap Sweater ($59 on sale for $39). Comes in a few colors

I'm shocked that I love this sweater as much as I do. I'm wearing a medium and it's a little large, but I loved it so much I had to have it. I'd recommend sizing down though. Also, it's a little on the cropped side, so I'd pair with high waisted skinnies like the ones I'm wearing above....I already picture myself wearing this out on a date night!

High Rise Skinnies ($89 on sale for $59)

My first time trying out this brand of jeans, but I have to say I'm impressed. I'm generally a loyal AG Jeans girl, but our Nordstrom was totally picked through of all designer denim. Needless to say after giving these a try, they came home with me and I can't wait to wear them. I love the dark, classic wash and the tiny bit of stretch. I'm not sure if they'll hold their shape (TBD), but so far so good. For $59 these are a win! Run true to size, wearing size 6.

Slingback Slides ($109 on sale for $72)

Ya'll, as much as I'm obsessed with these mules I picked up above, I think these slingback slides steal the show. They're SO adorable. As a short gal, these are the perfect chunky heel height and will be so comfortable to walk in. LOVE! Oh and I'm wearing my standard size 8. Apologies in advance since I'll be wearing these 24/7 starting now 🙂

Flowy Tee ($48 on sale for $31)

This Free People top is so flowy and soft! I like how the arms are more fitted, but the shirt itself is long and swingy. It definitely runs big- I tried on an XS but ended up going with the S above in case it shrinks. $31 for a tee normally seems like a lot, but the quality on this one is on point. It also comes in several colors, but I loved this dark grey!

Curve Hem Cardigan ($49 on sale for $31). Comes in several colors.

Like I mentioned above, I tried on several cardigans and bought a few different ones from the sale. I think this BP. one above is a really good budget friendly option at about $30. It's long but not too long and the perfect thickness. Based on the fabric, I think it'll also wash well which is always something I consider in my older age! Wearing a size small, so I'd suggest sizing down.

Black Tee ($17 on sale for $11)

I ended up grabbing this tee in stripe, white (x2), and black. They aren't the best quality in the world, but they're good basics to have on hand. I find I wear tees like this year round and love to update them whenever I find them on sale. Wearing a size medium.

Oversized Long Cardigan ($75 on sale for $49)

This is yet another cardi that flooded Instagram over the last week. I definitely can see why! It just looks super cozy and chunky. Unfortunately it runs HUGE. I'm wearing a size US 6 (fits like a 2-4) and it's even big on me.....So just be aware of that. The cream color above is currently sold out, but it's available in a few other colors. Seriously though, size down majorly. It really is a cute cardigan for snuggling up once the temps get cold!

Balloon Sleeve Sweater ($49 on sale for $31)

I also saw this sweater in the catalog and knew I had to have it! It's a great trendy sweater for around $30. I actually have a similar version from last year in tan that I wore nonstop, so I knew I'd get use out of a white version to switch things up. Runs true to size, wearing a medium

Long Sleeve Tee ($29 on sale for $18)

Another basic tee similar to the short sleeve versions I mentioned above. I actually purchased the white/black combo and returned it for this tan/black combo which seemed pretty unique! I'm wearing a size medium which fits perfect, however I wouldn't mind sizing up for a more oversized fit.

Slingback Slides ($109 on sale for $72) My favorite!

    OVERALL:

So there you have it! Everything you see above I purchased myself and intend to keep. I like keeping it real around here and only recommend items I 100% love.

Also, random side note but just remember that not everything is necessarily a good deal just because it's a part of the Nordstrom Sale. I think a lot of pieces really weren't up to the quality for even the sale price this year (just based on some of the misses I mentioned above and a few things that I saw in the store). My advice is to go off of bloggers you trust, as well as the reviews on Nordstrom's website which personally I find to be really accurate.

Ok so this was super long, but I hope it was really helpful for those who are shopping the Nordstrom sale or wanting to add some basics to their wardrobe. As you can see, I really went for basic pieces this year that can be mixed and matched. Unfortunately, I did buy a few other things that haven't gotten here yet (sorry Myles!), so I'll make sure to share those later. I'm going to go ahead and include them in the widget below in case they sell out, as well as everything I mentioned above that I kept.

    WHAT I BOUGHT/KEPT:

Did you shop the Nordstrom Sale? I'd love to know what you bought or what your favorite is this year?!

    Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018

It's that wonderful time of year again- the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I've been shopping the sale for years, and it's one of my favorites for so many reasons. I know so many bloggers out there have already been hyping it up, but I promise it really is that good. So good in fact, I've been saving for weeks which is truly an accomplishment in itself for me. No shop June, success!

Anyways, today I wanted to share a few key things about the sale. I've also included pieces I've bought over the years, just to give you an idea of what to expect. Most are still favorites to this day!

    Nordstrom Sale

    The Lowdown:
    • Early access starts Thursday, July 12th. If you're interested in shopping early, you can sign up for the Nordstrom credit card here. I'm not one to advocate credit cards - only if you can pay them off - but it really is a good perk. Otherwise, the sale opens to the public July 20th.
    • Up to 40% off NEW fall/winter items. This is the kicker, everything on sale is brand new merchandise which will be marked back to full price August 6th. Generally sales are a way to push out old inventory, but not this sale! For a sneak peek, check out this year's catalog here.
    • If you see something you want, snag it ASAP. Every year I'm shocked at how quickly items sell out, especially the more popular pieces that you'll see most fashion bloggers raving about. My advice, if you see anything you like place the order - Nordstrom has an awesome return policy so you can always return it if you change your mind. Same goes if you aren't sure of a size, order both just to be safe!

    Nordstrom Sale

    What to expect on sale:

Now's the time to stock up on wardrobe staples for the fall/winter. Think....

    • Quality denim- AG jeans are my FAVORITE and basically all I wear
    • Boots/booties/shoes in general- Expect to see leather Tory Burch shoes and boots majorly discounted, as well as tons of suede options from Vince, BP, etc. I'm eyeing these mules (under $50) and this pair of boots in black!
    • Cashmere- Now's the time to splurge on quality cashmere pieces whether it's a cardigan, sweater, vest, or wrap. This wrap has my name on it....
    • Basic tees- I always stock up on short and long sleeve tees. Perfect for layering and you can wear them now!
    • Workout wear- Sneakers, leggings, etc. Zella leggings are pretty much all I wear, and I generally pick up a pair every year.
    • Cardigans- I normally pick up several, but this year I need to limit myself to maybe just one 😉 Expect to see Barefoot Dreams marked done - like this cardigan- which honestly is the softest I own.
    • Makeup- I'm not a makeup guru whatsoever, but I love snagging sets as well as any Nars palettes...
    • Jackets- Now's the time to purchase a new coat on sale, despite the fact that it's 100 degrees out... I'm obsessed with the faux leather jacket I bought last year, and I'm hoping to score a Wubby pullover before they sell out!
And just for fun, here are a few favorites I've purchased throughout the years:

Leather jacket / Leopard scarf / Black mules

    Floral Kimono in Hawaii

    Kimono in Hawaii

Kimono in Hawaii Kimono in Hawaii

One of my favorite memories from our time in Hawaii was walking along the Wailea Beach trail every morning as the sun would rise. I'm a night owl, always have been, but something about Hawaii always seems to turn me into a morning person.

I loved getting a few miles in while the world seemed to still be asleep. So peaceful. Plus, all the cats along the way were SO cute ....

    Kimono in Hawaii

The morning of my birthday, Myles asked if I wanted him to take some pictures for the blog. Of course I couldn't say NO, especially because I'd been hoping to catch some shots of the sunrise with my DSLR.

    Kimono in Hawaii

    Kimono in Hawaii

Kimono in Hawaii I had a few minutes to get myself together before the sun came up, and I decided to throw on the easiest outfit I could think of.....

    Kimono in Hawaii

    Kimono in Hawaii

Kimonos are my jam - year round. They're super easy to style and can be worn so many ways. I love throwing them on over a plain tank/tee with shorts or jeans, but also as a cover up when I don't feel like wearing a dress.

Plus, there's something about the flowiness of a kimono that looks so effortlessly chic....

    Kimono in HawaiiKimono in Hawaii

Floral kimono / Favorite jean shorts (AG on major sale!) / White tee / Sunnies (favorites!)

It's safe to say, I wore this kimono nonstop during our two week stay in Hawaii. The price point at under $16 was such a steal. You definitely don't need to splurge on this style my friends! Save your $$ for a few mai tai's 😉

    Shop my faves:

I've linked a few other kimonos above that I'm loving. Show Me Your Mumu makes beautiful prints and the quality is SO good too. Which reminds me, does anyone remember when I wrote this post a few years back about styling kimonos? Time flies!

    Mt. Pilatus, Switzerland

    mt. pilatus

As I mentioned in Thursday's post, our adventure to Mt. Pilatus was a highlight of our trip and one I can't stop raving about! When I initially decided on staying in Lucerne, I knew I wanted to do some sort of day trip to the surrounding mountains.

Luckily there were three main choices to chose from: Mt. Rigi, Mt. Titlis, and Mt. Pilatus. After WAY too much research I settled on Mt. Pilatus- mostly after seeing these pictures. Seriously, SO cool right?!

    mt. pilatus

Well I'm here today to share that this day trip was WAY worth the hype and by far exceeded my expectations. It was also really easy to navigate with our trusty Swiss Pass. With the pass, the trip is free and you don't need to buy any tickets.

I'll break it down for you in easy details below. There really is no need to buy any sort of group tour since you can do this on your own. I have faith in you 😉

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

We decided to start the 'Golden Round Trip' with a boat ride on Lake Lucerne. The boat was docked next to the train station which was super convenient, and the ride took us to Alpnachstad about an hour away.

To avoid crowds, we left around 9:00 which ended up working out perfectly! The boat itself was pretty large and there were so many places to get picture perfect shots.

mt. pilatus*mt. pilatusIf you look hard enough, the little building up top is the summit! mt. pilatus mt. pilatusmt. pilatusJust check out these views of the snow capped Swiss Alps and Mt. Pilatus!mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

Once we docked in Alpnachstad, we boarded the world's steepest cogwheel train to take us to the top....

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus mt. pilatusmt. pilatus

Oh my gosh ya'll was this SO cool! It took about 30 minutes to get to the top, which quickly went by since the views were absolutely breathtaking. I'm still in awe that a train like this even exists......

mt. pilatus mt. pilatus mt. pilatus

    7,000 feet up!

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

Once we got off the train, we explored the top for about a bit. There's several places to eat, as well as a hotel. No idea how they even built that, the Swiss people are geniuses! We weren't hungry for once since we'd had a huge breakfast earlier, so we decided to set out on the hike below not really knowing what to expect.........

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatus

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

Miles upon miles of beauty as far as the eye can see........

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

We even found someone to take our picture!

    mt. pilatus

So this is when things got dicey.......I had NO idea we'd be climbing grated stairs on the edge of this mountain. No joke, there was a complete drop the entire time. Long story short, I learned the hard way that I'm NOT a fan of stairs when we're 7,000 feet up.......So just keep that in mind if you're afraid of heights in the least bit.

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

    Death gripping the railing....

Thankfully Myles talked me out of turning around and I made it past the worst spots without having a complete panic attack. I wish I had gotten some pictures, but I think Myles got video? More to come... My legs were visibly shaking, but the views were worth it!

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

After we completed the loop, I was more then ready for a glass of wine and a snack.

    mt. pilatus

    mt. pilatus mt. pilatus

We decided against the other loop to the highest point on Pilatus because...we'll just take a look at the picture below. Brave, brave people...

    mt. pilatus

Pretty sure the 'stairs' were made of wood and dirt....Not happening!

Once I finally didn't feel like my heart was beating out of my chest, we decided to do one more hike that looked a little less intimidating (flat with no stairs!)

    mt. pilatus

mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus mt. pilatus mt. pilatus

My favorite moments of the day (entire trip?) were here with the Swiss Alps in the distance. I really felt on top of the world! It was so quiet and peaceful, all we could hear were the jingling of the cow bells below. I can't even believe this type of beauty even exists in the world.....

Needless to say, Myles and I were both in awe and spent some time sitting on a bench trying to take in everything <3 We even decided next time we visit we might attempt the hike below... Kidding!

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatus

We even took some outfit pics along the edge that you might recognize 😉

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

Gibson Top (similar) / Favorite stretchy jeans (the price is SO good and they literally have elastic in the band!) / Nikes (sold out, similar) / Favorite sunglasses

Myles and I pretty much had to drag ourselves down from Mt. Pilatus. I'm pretty sure we could have stayed up there ALL day.

    mt. pilatus

After a few hours on top of the world though, we decided to take the gondolas/cable cars down to Kreins. These run very frequently, so it's easy to hop on, hop off. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves on this one.......

    mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatus

Through the clouds we go!mt. pilatusmt. pilatusmt. pilatusHalf way point- the water is SO clean in Switzerland! I really wish I could have bottled it all up and taken it home.
mt. pilatus mt. pilatus mt. pilatus mt. pilatusOnce we made it to Kreins, it was a quick 10 min walk to the bus that brought us back to Lucerne. There's signs, but pretty much you just have to follow the people and you will find the bus stop!

We got back a little after four and decided to rest a bit in our hotel before setting back out for the night. I think we both were just SO overwhelmed with our day adventure that we were exhausted. Overwhelmed in the best way possible just trying to soak up what we'd just done!

If there's one piece of advice I can give you, it's to put Mt. Pilatus on your bucket list, as well as Lucerne! You will NOT be disappointed 🙂

Stay tuned - Friday I'll be sharing some of my favorite things we did in the town of Lucerne, as well as a review of our hotel.
    XOXO

    Let's Catch Up: April/May

Happy Wednesday friends! Since I've been on a roll with the blog as of last week (see my travel posts from California here and here), I figured it was time to catch up on everything thats been going on lately!

It's been a long time since I've done a post like this (January maybe?) so it's totally overdue. The last two months were absolutely hectic, in all the best ways possible though. So I thought it would be fun to share what I've been up to via my iPhone pics. Some of these pics you might recognize from Instagram, but others never quite made it on there.....

Grab a cup of coffee because this is a long one, I hope you enjoy!

My sister and I took a trip to Upper Shirley Vineyards towards the end of March. It was my first time visiting, and I couldn't get over how beautiful it was! The food of course was delicious (hello ham biscuits <333), but the property itself was just lovely. For those who live in Richmond, this vineyard is just a short drive away and worth the trip! And for those planning a wedding...this place really is a dream!

We had the best day full of champagne, dresses on dresses, lunch with views of the James, visiting the most gorgeous boutique I've ever seen (seriously, that chandelier deserves all the heart emojis), and of course pizza 😉 I'll be sharing more on my dress shopping experience later....but all I can say is I'm pretty sure we found the one!!! The day honestly couldn't have been more perfect- basically as cliche as that sounds. So thank ya'll for making it so special!!! Can't wait until 5/5/18

Well friends, I think that's about it. I hope you enjoyed this post and I can't wait to get back into the swing of blogging. I have so many fun things planned ahead that I want to share - including the rest of my California travel posts, a family beach trip this month, wedding updates (I'm thinking of doing these monthly?), more J Crew Factory finds (I definitely did some damage...), as well as a big trip Myles and I have planned for early September!!

It's going to be a great summer and I can't wait to have ya'll along for the ride.

    Thanks for reading <3

We’ve been keeping a secret……. And today finally felt like a good time to announce… The Brittons are officially moving to FLORIDA!!! This is such a bittersweet announcement🥹
It’s no secret that we’ve been making so many trips back and forth to Florida in the last year. This move has been a dream of Myles and mine for nearly a decade (one I never thought would happen until much later in life to be honest). But the opportunity came up, and we decided to go for it. We found the PERFECT house in the sweetest neighborhood in early April (remember when we drove 15 hours to Fl for a few weeks? We were house hunting!) Everything felt too good to be true. We were about to sign a contract for the house and then we got the worst call of my life. My mom passed away out of the blue and my entire world was flipped upside down in an instant. Everything was put on hold as we navigated our new normal.
With the help and encouragement of our families, we were able to still sign the contract on the house not knowing what the next few months would look like. Obviously my priorities were elsewhere. Typing this out now, I still can’t believe this is “happening” as I navigate grief and everything 2024 has thrown our way. But we signed the contract last month so it’s “official”!!! We’re Florida homeowners.
My emotions are all over the place. I’m beyond excited for this new adventure. It’s really a dream come true- we’ll be 15 min from the beach! It’s the perfect place to raise a family. At the same time, I’m so sad that I’ll be leaving behind my family. I’ve lived in Richmond my entire life. This feels huge and the timing strange. But if there’s one thing 2024 has taught me, it’s that we can do hard things. The last long phone call I had with my mom was about this house. We talked for two hours about it- down to every single detail of every room. I feel like she helped us find this place and is somehow connected to it. I know she would want me to keep chasing my dreams.
This house felt like home right when we walked in. It was the only house Libby didn’t scream in (house hunting with a 1.5 year old is not for the faint of heart). I know it will be filled with love 💗 Cont…

A little over a week into 2024, and I completely forgot to post our December highlights! December was such a fun month, but completely flew by! We tried to fit in as many holiday activities as we could -including a trip to the Jefferson, a visit with Santa (Libby’s first time… and she was NOT fan 🫣 see slide #7…poor girl), a few trips to the mall to see the decor, and our annual trip up to Philly to spend time with family. Mama and dada were even lucky to get a night away in the city, which was SO needed and so appreciated 🫶🏻 Libby’s second Christmas was so much fun, and she loved opening presents / playing with all of the wrapping paper/ boxes. She spent the month practicing standing and walking. Shes SO close - just needs to build up her confidence, but she’s almost there ❤️ When she isn’t practicing walking and getting into everything these days…. Libby is talking up a storm. She easily knows 100+ words at this point, and I’m beyond impressed when she recognizes different animals/ colors/ objects. We just love our little girl so much and are so proud of her! I can’t believe she’ll be 16 months soon🥹The toddler phase definitely is wild- but we’re so thankful for our girl. I can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store for our little family 💓

Merry Christmas from our family to yours 🫶🏻

Hi 👋🏼!! If you’ve followed me on stories today, you know I’ve been going through pics/trying to get better organized. I’m trying to figure out a way to capture all the memories we make with our growing girl- because holy cow is she growing so so fast these days! Not having the monthly milestone pics has put me “behind”…. So I think what I may do is just monthly recaps of what we’ve been up to as a family- starting with November! Once a month doesn’t seem too overwhelming, plus I know I’ll love coming back to these posts 🫶🏻

In November we wrapped up our trip in Sarasota! I swear as soon as we got back, Libby grew a foot hahaha which explains all of the extra sleeping she’s been doing! Major growth spurt. We enjoyed the fall weather in VA and took so many walks (night time walks became early afternoon walks bc of daylight savings) and went to Lewis Ginter numerous times. We celebrated Friendsgiving with my old coworkers and took Libby to her first @missannesmusicandmovement class🫶🏻 We then celebrated Thanksgiving with my family- my sister hosted 20+ people (forever amazed how she pulls it off). Libby had a blast and is slowly getting over stranger danger (I think haha). She is also making SO much progress standing / getting into standing. She’s still not walking… but she’ll get there in time 🫶🏻 The amount of words she’s been saying lately has been blowing me away- our girl continues to be super chatty.

We are all so excited for the holidays and can’t believe it’s almost 2024. Where does the time go?!?

The cutest pumpkin 🎃 I ever did see 🧡🧡 We
The cutest pumpkin 🎃 I ever did see 🧡🧡 We had such a fun Halloween trick or treating in Florida this year! This was Libby’s second time and we loved the warm weather, fun decor, golf carts EVERYWHERE, and hundreds (literally) of people out and about! The neighborhood we went to was no joke. They don’t mess around for this holiday 😂 I’ve never seen anything like it 🫣 Celebrating holidays with our a little Libby is simply the best; definitely worth the tiredness today. I hope everyone had a great night!!!

TWELVE months! Libby turned one while we were in F
TWELVE months! Libby turned one while we were in Florida, and we finally got around to taking the last of her milestone pics (better late than never and hey she’s still 12 months for another week 🫶🏻). Tbh I think I’ve been in denial of this milestone 🥹 Libby is officially a “toddler,” and I just can’t believe how quickly our baby has grown. It’s been the best year of my life watching Libby grow, and I’m forever thankful to get to spend so much time with her. She is sweet, silly, chatty, sassy, and so perfect for our family.
At one, Libby is becoming way more mobile. She loves to stand (with help!), crawl to reach her toys (this chick has gotten fast!), play with any and all toys, take long stroller walks (she adores being outside esp Florida!), watch her bff Mrs Rachel, drink her babas (which we are slowly weaning to milk and she’s doing great!), go shopping (big fan of sitting in the cart), and go night nights hahah.
We spent 2 weeks in Florida in Sept and Libby had a blast! She’s become quite the little traveler. Libby loves swimming in the gulf, feeling the wind in her hair (she makes the silliest faces!), and spending time with her Mama and Dada🫶🏻 Libby grew so much over our trip - she is babbling up a storm now (fave words as of late: mama, dada, baba, baby, bubble, uh oh, WOW, no, Wawa, meowww, happpy, up, and “opayyy” which I think she’s trying to say open haha). She has 4 teeth with one (maybe 2?) cutting through now. We also started getting the hang of eating more foods too.
As always, I could go on and on about our sweet girl. I’m so proud of her everyday and while it’s hard watching her grow so quickly, I’m thankful she’s healthy and thriving! So cheers to one year around the ☀️ Libby girl- your Mama and Dada love you to the 🌙

Happiest Birthday to little Miss Libby! It blows m
Happiest Birthday to little Miss Libby! It blows my mind that you’re O-N-E. The last year has FLOWN by - filled with the absolute best memories. Watching you grow from a tiny little newborn to a “toddler” before our eyes has been the greatest joy of my life. You my dear are going to do great things 🫶🏻 Libby brings so much happiness to our family with her sweet (but slightly sassy) personality. Her toothy smile melts my heart and her crystal blue eyes stare right into your soul 😂 She is absolute perfection and everyday spent with her is truly a gift.

We celebrated Libby today doing a lot of her favorite things! We started the morning with a swim in the gulf - Libby has been LOVING the water (it feels like a big bath) and had a blast! Next up was a nap followed by lunch out on the town. There were also lots of babas, pouches, snacks, and Ms Rachel in between. Libby skipped her last nap bc she was so amped from the day 😂 and then we FaceTimed all of our family! We then took Libby down to the beach to watch the sunset as a family 🫶🏻 It was the best sunset of the trip to date! Libby wore her adorable monogrammed 🎈 bubble that I bought nearly a year ago 🥹 It was slightly snug which is just a reminder of how quickly she’s growing. It’s so bittersweet. After the sunset we came back to the room to sing gf Happy Birthday and blow out her #1 candle! She LOVED happy birthday 😂 I hope she made a good wish this year! We let her eat some icing for the first time and it was a hit. Last up was one last baba and twinkle twinkle before bed🫶🏻 it was the best day celebrating our girl!

Libby - Your Mama and Dada adore you. We can’t wait to watch you learn and grow over this next year! Thank you for being the best daughter 🥹

ELEVEN MONTHS!!!! (Well more like 11.5 at this poi
ELEVEN MONTHS!!!! (Well more like 11.5 at this point 😂). The last few weeks have absolutely flown by - our little family has been busy with traveling. We took a trip up to Philly to see DMB for the weekend - Libby spent the night with Grandma/Grandpa (first time away from Mommy!) and did amazing. She seemed totally unphased LOL. We then took a last minute trip to FL- Libby’s first flight!!! I couldn’t have been more proud of her ❤️ She did so well despite not napping on the plane and a 4am return flight home. We then spent a week in OBX with the Aunt Stephy/Uncle Hunter/Cousin Avery. It was such a nice weekend with family - Libby LOVED playing with her cousin. Seeing them together is so special ❤️ While at the beach, Libby went in the pool for the first time and spent some time by the ocean. She LOVED swimming and LOVED playing with buckets of water. She is going to be a beach/water baby, I just know it. With all of this traveling, Libby adapted so well to schedule changes. I love that we’re getting to experience all of these places with her as a family.
As far as development - Libby is officially 20 lb 2 oz. She is growing perfectly, still fitting into her 6-9 mth jams and 6-12 mth outfits. She recently hit a growth spurt and is in the 50th % for height. She LOVES food and we are working on trying new things regularly - big fan of all fruits still (except watermelon lol), beans, carbs (cornbread esp), and yogurt. Libby is also a BIG talker - this chick loves to babble. Fave words include “mama,” uh-oh,” “bubble,” “ball,” and “dada.” She has 4 teeth and I spy 2 more coming in. Her big teethy grin is the more adorable thing I’ve ever seen ❤️ Libby is also becoming more mobile these days - gf has been going at her own pace and that’s ok! Recently I found her sitting up in her crib and she is all about going from tummy to sitting. She army crawls to scoot around and is now starting to enjoy standing (with a little help).
She is absolutely perfect and Myles and I just adore her. Watching her grow into this sweet, silly, and slightly sassy little girl has been such a privilege. We love you little LouLou and can’t believe you are almost the big ONE!!!

TEN months!!!! Libby’s first birthday is quickly
TEN months!!!! Libby’s first birthday is quickly approaching, and I’m in so much denial. As I say every month, this one flew by again. It seems like everyday Libby is learning something new! She’s army crawling up a storm (so so close to “traditional” crawling) and as talkative as can be. She recently learned how to wave and say “hiiiiiii” 🫶🏻She also loves to mimic sounds and noises. As far as food, Libby’s been making so much progress - new faves include chicken, beans, and pasta. We’ve been working on using pincher fingers, and Libby is a champ feeding herself tiny bites of everything.

Libby’s current favorite toys include her puzzle, blue octopus, eggies, lovevery play kit, cuppies, piano, blocks, all of her Eric Carl clip on toys, and her hoppy. This girl continues to LOVE playing, and I love watching her little brain try to figure things out.

Libby is still fitting into some of her 6-9 clothes, although they’re now getting more snug. She still has the chunkiest little cheeks that we can’t get enough of- her hair is also getting SO thick and long!

As far as personality, Libby is still so sweet, but definitely a little sassy 😂 She does NOT like to be woken up from night nights at all, and can be stubborn like her mama. Gf knows what she wants, and that’s a great quality to have! She has the most crystal clear blue eyes, and we joke that she stares into your soul 😂 When we get stopped by strangers out and about, they always comment on her eyes and Libby rarely returns a smile at first (her stone cold face is her signature and it’s absolutely hilarious). But once she does warm up, she will smile all day long and “ham it up.” She loves her tickles too and is so so silly. Recently she has been more cuddly esp when we sing “twinkle twinkle” before every sleep- she’ll rest her head on mine - it’s brief, but it warms my heart.

I could write a novel about LouLou, but I’ll save that for another day 🫶🏻 She is the best little girl, and Myles and I are so thankful that she’s ours. I can’t wait to continue watching her grow / develop into the little person that she’s meant to be. She really is so perfect for our family. We love you sweet girl ❤️

NINE months!!! (And some change 😂). But hey, better late than never! We took these pics of Libby awhile ago, and finally getting around to posting. Y’all…. Taking pics of a 9 month old is NO joke. I think I tried for a solid 10 min and couldn’t get the “perfect one” because Libby just wanted to play with the sign 😂😂😂 But hey, we tried! This also just captures life with our girl perfectly at the moment - wanting to pick up / play with EVERYTHING in sight. Be sure to scroll through for all the outtakes including us singing to her at the end (nothing worked lol). As far as an update - I wrote a blog post about it 😍 Nine months felt like a huge milestone that was too hard to share in this little text box. Make sure to head over to the blog (simple yet chic.com) to check it out! I’m also sharing pics from our shoot with the incredible @lundyphotography 💓 But to summarize, this last month has been busy busy! We traveled to OBX for the week and had the best time. Libby is babbling away and definitely going to be on the move soon (not crawling yet but she’s figured out how to get to toys out of reach… all about the toys with this girly!). We’re starting to work on tiny pieces of food and supplementing with purées from @littlespoon (so many flavors!). Grandma and Aunt @l_britton also made the trip to RVA to spend time with our girl and it was the best weekend! We’re looking forward to more family time with the Lane/Brooks this summer too at the OBX 💓 We just love this sweet girl of ours who is growing SO quickly- wearing 6-12 mth clothes now and definitely getting “longer” it seems and heavier when I pick her up 😂 Mama and Dada love you LouLou🫶🏻

Happy Father’s Day to the love of my life and best “dada” to little Libby 💓 These last 9 months have been some of the best of my life watching the two of you become little best friends (she is your twin after all!) I always knew you would make an amazing dad 💓💓 Libby simply adores you, and I know for a fact I couldn’t do this parenting thing without you by my side. We both love you to the 🌙 So cheers to you today (and everyday!) I can’t wait for all the memories our little family will continue to make 🫶🏻 #fathersday #obx #obxphotography #familyphotography #happyfathersday #migolondrina #beach #family

EIGHT months with our little strawberry 🍓 I too
EIGHT months with our little strawberry 🍓 I took these pictures before we left for the beach, but am now getting around to posting our girls eight month update. It was another BUSY month over here! We made the trip up to DC to spend a weekend with Grandma/Grandpa Britton and had a blast! Libby is such a good little traveler and adapts so well 🫶🏻 She slept overnight in the pack n play for the first time and did so great. Each time we travel with Libby, I get a little more confident 💓 Somehow we picked up another bug in DC, so we all spent a part of the month sick. Libby was a trooper though and recovered the quickest it seemed - she always had a smile on her face despite the sneezes and coughs. She was also a trooper because she officially is growing TWO little 🦷 at once 🥹 I’m going to miss her gummy smiles, but I’m so proud of her growing up. She also hit a big milestone in April of BABBLING! This chick is talkative and LOVES to say “mamamamamama” on repeat. We’ve gotten a few dadadas too 🥰 It absolutely melts my heart. As far as other development, Libby still is working on crawling but isn’t too interested yet (that’s ok!) she more so loves to stand and sit like a big girl. She’s still loving her food, and the goal this month is to introduce more solids - eggs so far aren’t a hit but yogurt (mixed with mango) is one of her new faves! As I say every month, I can’t believe how quickly the weeks go by. Libby is growing before our eyes and I’m just trying to savor every single moment with our sweet girl. Libby, your mama and dada love you to the moon and back 💓

Celebrated 34 with my little family today in our favorite spot 🫶🏻🫶🏻 Myles took care of Libby this morning so I could sleep in (🙏🏻) followed by some iced coffee and pool time! I even got to start a book (which is good and I hope to finish in the next two days 😂) We had seafood for lunch and pizza for dinner which hit the spot! We even took Libby to the beach for a bit - but it was super windy 💨 We still got some cute videos and made memories 💓 Libby adores the beach and is just the best little travel buddy. I really couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. Thank you to my family and friends for making it so special. Life is so so good 💓

To the little girl who made me a Momma 🫶🏻 Libby, you are our entire world. Being your Momma is the biggest blessing of my life. I will never forget hearing your heartbeat for the first time- I knew from that moment that our lives would change in the most profound way. You’ve taught me so much in these 8 months, but mostly how to love so deep to the core. You are truly the greatest gift and I don’t know how your Dadda and I got so lucky🥹 Thank you for making me a Momma, sweet girl💓 Also Happy Mothers Day to my Mom- @forshare1 . 5/5/18 🫶🏻 Happy five year anniversary to the love of my life and dada to our little girl 💓 Myles and I met in college and have pretty much been inseparable ever since. We’ve grown so much together - from first jobs, buying a house, traveling, life’s ups/downs, and our biggest adventure to date— becoming parents to Libby girl. I’m so thankful for this life together. So cheers to us and the future- I know for a fact we have so many good adventures to look forward to. I love you endlessly, Myles 💓 PS- I still can’t get over our wedding pictures even five years later 🥹 @alicialaceyphoto thank you so much for capturing these images that we’ll hold dear forever. It was the best day with family and friends!

Happy seven months to Miss Libby girl! (One week late but that’s okay, we’ve been busy busy!) It has been a major month of growing and developing for our girl. Libby has officially moved into her big girl room and has been doing so well sleeping in her crib. Mommy/Daddy are proud of her, but I can’t lie and say I don’t miss her being so close 🥹 She is rolling up a storm now, and crawling is definitely in the future (I’m in no rush though lol). Libby is pretty much sitting independently at this point and LOVES to jump in her jumparoo and stand in her activity center. She’s tried all sorts of foods this month- bananas, avocados (a fan now!), sweet potato, butternut squash, pears, berries, carrots, etc. Girlfriend is definitely a good eater. As far as highs this month, we loved spending our first St Patrick’s Day and Easter weekend as a family! Easter was so fun and Libby got to spend time with the Lane/Brooks family as well as catch up via FaceTime with Grandma/Grandpa Britton (Libby loves computers too 😂) They also made a visit at the start of this month and spoiled Libby rotten! The time is absolutely flying, and I honestly don’t know where the days have gone. We just love our sweet girl so much. Lately she has been giving us the deepest belly laughs and sticking her tongue out (make sure to scroll through all the pics!)- it’s hilarious and she’s such a clown. She also can be super serious and has mastered her stone cold face 😂 Libby, your Mommy and Daddy love you endlessly. We can’t wait for all the memories we’re going to make together with our upcoming travels this spring /summer 💓 PS- I bought this monogrammed outfit back in March 2022 from @thebeaufortbonnetcompany 🥹 It was the first monogrammed item I purchased once we decided on little Libby’s name. There was no going back! So sweet, and so special 🫶🏻

A perfect Easter weekend with our little bunny 🐰 Libby LOVES holidays and it’s been so fun creating new memories together 🫶🏻 We started the weekend early celebrating with Grandma, Poppy, Aunt Stephy, Uncle Hunter and Cousin Avery at our house! Delicious food and good company as always. Libby had so much fun playing with everyone! She wore her little smocked pink dress and was as cute as can be 🥰 Today we celebrated with our little family. The Easter bunny showed up and brought Libby new toys - so she was loving life! (Egg toy was a hit) Libby wore her little bunny outfit with a cotton tail and I couldn’t even handle it. We FaceTimed Grandma and Grandpa Britton and Libby showed off all her toys. After Libby went to bed, Mommy and Daddy celebrated together with our favorite @osakasushirr sushi. It was such a good weekend and went wayyyy too quick. We love you little Libby girl! 🌷

Happy six months to our little Libby 🥹 You continue to amaze us sweet girl. It was only fitting that you wore your first @lillypulitzer to celebrate. Your Daddy picked this out for you almost a year ago when we found out you were a girl. It’s hard to believe that it now fits you 💗 This month has been filled with so much laughing and fun. Your Mommy has LOVED every moment staying home with you and wouldn’t have it any other way. This month you have continued to grow like a weed (phasing out of 3-6 month clothes slowly and starting to wear 6+). You tried solids for the first time - big banana fan, avocado not so much 😂 You still are not a fan of tummy time, but that’s okay because you LOVE sitting like a big girl!l You’re almost doing that solo now, and we’re so proud! You also love toys and learning - turning the pages of books, the activity center, and your rings are your favorites right now! You still love your sleepsies and nap time; recently looking at the “stars” with your Daddy and I has become our favorite night time tradition. I could go on and on about how proud we are of you little girl; you are the light of our lives and we can’t wait to continue watching you grow 💗💗
